Synopsis

Supermodelo was a Spanish reality television show based on the American TV series America's Next Top Model which is broadcast on the Spanish television station Cuatro. Two seasons have already gone to air, and a third one began in April 2008. While the first two Cycles followed the original format of only female models competing, Cycle 3 also featured male contestants that were living in the same house and participated in the same challenges but had a separate competition. Another significant different to the Next Top Model series was that the viewers were choosing which contestant of the bottom two was eliminated.

Season 1

In the first cycle of the show 13 young girls across the nation participated, and 19 year old María José Gallego from Jaén, Spain won. The other finalists were Yasmin García, Mayte Prieto, and Laura Negrete.

Season 2

Due to the success of Supermodelo 2006 the number of contestants was increased from 13 to 20 girls and daily episodes were introduced. Over 14 weeks, the audience had the final say in eliminating one of the bottom two contestants every week. In the end, 21-year-old Noelia López from Seville, Spain triumphed over Magdalena Pérez, Isabel Cañete, and Alba Carillo on the season finale.

Season 3

In this season the show saw significant changes when former host Judit Mascó left the show with Eloísa González replacing her. Also male contestants were allowed to enter who would compete in a separate competition from the females, whose winner would eventually be the representative for Spain on the annual Elite Model Contest as in the two years before. All the changes and variations of the format proved to be very unpopular with Spanish audience and the show was cut after only 5 weeks on air.
